Our Mission

Our mission is to make hypoallergenic rooms commonplace by 2030. We exist to educate the hotel industry about room allergens and train staff on outfitting and maintaining reduced-allergen rooms.

We also certify that hotels offer effective hypoallergenic rooms and promote AllerEase® hotels to consumers.

OUR VISION

By 2030, we aim to ensure that every hotel guest’s pillows and mattresses are equipped with specially woven encasements designed to protect against dust mites. With over 25% of the population now allergic to the digestive enzymes produced by dust mites, many guests suffer from stuffy noses and other discomforts caused by inhaling these allergens at night.

Our AllerEase® Hotel Program provides hoteliers with a profitable pathway to upgrading all their bedding. This initiative enhances guest comfort and health and boosts Average Daily Rate (ADR), occupancy, and market share. By investing in AllerEase® rooms, hotels can differentiate themselves in the competitive market and attract a more satisfied customer base.

MARKET PERSPECTIVE

INCREASING COMMODIFICATION

As hotels become increasingly commodified, they are forced to compete on price, leading to reduced profitability.

THIRD-PARTY CERTIFICATION

To prevent the commodification of hypoallergenic rooms, third-party certification is essential. WHAI offers this certification along with comprehensive training to help hotels outfit, maintain, and upsell profitable hypoallergenic rooms.

A KEY TRAVELER PREFERENCE

Studies show that 83% of guests will choose an allergy-friendly room if offered, and nearly two-thirds prefer hotels that provide these options.

ALLEREASE® HOTEL PROMOTION

We sponsor AllerEaseTravel.com, a website that connects travelers seeking hypoallergenic accommodations with WHAI member Certified AllerEase® hotels offering these options.
